Activation of TWIA Catastrophe Plan and Policy Moratorium in Effect
Published on: July 25, 2020The United States Weather Bureau has upgraded Tropical Storm Hanna to Hurricane Hanna, and it is already within the boundaries of 80 degrees west longitude and 20 degrees north latitude.
TWIA can no longer accept new or increased coverage applications. This moratorium will remain in effect until the TWIA General Manager determines that the storm no longer threatens property within the designated catastrophe area of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association.
We will continue to keep you updated about Hurricane Hanna as well as notify you when the moratorium on accepting new and increased coverage applications has ended. In addition to our website, you may visit our Facebook page to stay up to date on this storm and TWIA’s response to it.
If, and when, Hurricane Hanna makes landfall, claims can be filed by calling TWIA’s 24-hour Claims Center at (800) 788-8247. Agents and policyholders may also file claims online at www.twia.org/claimscenter.
