Written Public Comments for the December 7, 2021 TWIA Board of Directors Meeting

At its December 7 meeting, the TWIA Board of Directors voted to maintain the 5% rate increase on windstorm insurance policies scheduled to take effect on January 1. The decision, on a 5 to 3 vote, came after coastal members of the Texas Legislature wrote to the Board in November, calling on them to reverse the rate increase.

In making their decision, the TWIA Board considered both written and verbal testimony from the public. In the interest of transparency and consistent with prior practice, we have posted the written public comments received for the December 7 Board meeting. Certain personally identifiable information, such as names and contact information, has been redacted to protect the privacy of those individuals, some of whom may be TWIA policyholders.

The Board’s next meeting will be held on February 22, 2022.
